Overview

HawkHero is built on a simple idea: bring your own server (BYOS). The app doesn't send your photos, listings, or personal information to HawkHero or MACCAM LLC - because we don't run servers that store user data. Everything happens between your device and the server you set up yourself.

What We Collect

Short answer: nothing. HawkHero does not collect personal data, does not run analytics, and does not track how you use the app. There's no HawkHero account, no sign-up form, and no user database on our end.

How Your Photos Are Processed

When you snap a photo, HawkHero sends it directly from your device to the server address you configured in the app - a backend you host yourself. That server uses your own Google Gemini API key to generate the listing. MACCAM LLC and HawkHero never receive, view, or store a copy of your photos or generated listings.

Local Storage

Your listing history - photos, titles, descriptions, price ranges, and tags - is saved locally on your device. It is not synced to, backed up on, or accessible from any HawkHero server, because no such server exists for user data. Deleting the app or clearing its data removes your listing history.

Third-Party Services

Your self-hosted server communicates with the Google Gemini API using the API key you provide. That exchange is governed by Google's own terms and privacy policy, not ours.

No Advertising

HawkHero does not display ads and does not participate in any ad network.

Children's Privacy

HawkHero is not directed at children under 13. Because the app does not collect personal data from any user, it does not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Data Security

Because MACCAM LLC does not operate servers that store user data, there is no central HawkHero database of photos or listings to be breached. Securing the self-hosted server you connect to - including your Gemini API key - is your responsibility. See our Support page for setup guidance.

Your Control Over Your Data

Since your photos and listings live on your device and your own server, you're always in control. Delete the app to remove local listing history. Manage or delete data on your own server the same way you'd manage any self-hosted service.

Changes To This Policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above and note the change in the app's release notes.
